A long upper body and tops that let go of the waistband

Short answer: Choose garments with extra body length and avoid short, straight cuts. Long undershirts solve it most cheaply.

What happens

With a long upper body an ordinary cut does not reach the waistband. Every time you raise your arms or bend, the garment lets go of the trousers and you get a strip of bare skin or a gap between layers.

The measurement that decides it

Body length from neck to hem is the figure to look for, not chest width. Measure a garment you own that only just reaches and use it as your minimum. See bamboo clothing for men.

The undershirt as a solution

A long undershirt under your shirt stays in place and closes the gap, however short the shirt is. It is the simplest and cheapest answer to the problem. See bamboo undershirts for men and bamboo undershirts for women.

Cuts that work

Choose garments with a straight or slightly extended back. Avoid short boxy styles and oversize cuts with a short body. See bamboo t-shirts for men.

Frequently asked questions

Can I size up to gain length

That gives a couple of centimetres and a lot of extra width. Choose a long style instead.

Why does the top ride up through the day

Because fabric without elastane stays where it lands while the body keeps moving.

Are long undershirts warm

Not in bamboo viscose. A thin layer moves moisture and cools more than it warms.
