Three types of sheet

An envelope sheet has elastic in the corners and a depth of 20 cm, which suits a standard mattress. A fitted sheet has elastic all the way round and a depth of 35 cm, so it also fits a mattress with a topper. A split sheet is made for adjustable beds, where the head and foot end can be raised separately. It has elastic all the way round and a 20 cm depth, so the sheet follows the movement of the bed instead of pinging off. Sizes from single bed to large double bed

The envelope sheets and fitted sheets come in every colour in 90 x 200 cm and 180 x 200 cm. Several colours also come in 140 x 200 cm and 160 x 200 cm. The white sheets have the largest choice, including 90 x 210 cm, 120 x 200 cm and 180 x 210 cm, and the white fitted sheet also comes in 210 x 210 cm with a 20 or 35 cm depth. The split sheets come in 180 x 200 cm in two versions, U80 and H60, which suit different types of adjustable bed. Measure the length, width and height of the mattress before you choose.

How to choose the depth

The depth is what most often goes wrong when buying a sheet for a single or double bed. If the mattress is thin, a 35 cm fitted sheet will be too loose. If the mattress is deep, or you have a topper, a 20 cm envelope sheet will not reach round. As a rule of thumb, the depth of the sheet should be a little more than the total height of the mattress.

Eight colours to choose from

The sheets come in white, light blue, lavender, sand, light beige, taupe, khaki and dark grey. The split sheets come in white. Many people choose a calm colour that matches the duvet cover, and like to buy two sheets, so there is always a clean one ready when the other is in the wash.
