A whole set of bedding inside its own pillowcase
Short answer: Put the sheet, duvet cover and one pillowcase down into the other pillowcase. Then the whole set is one unit, and you fetch only one item from the shelf. Here is a simple way to do it and an explanation of why it works.
Why it works
Because a set of bedding is only used together. If the parts lie separately, you have to find three items in the right size every time you change. As a package it is one movement, and you do not have to guess whether the parts fit together. It saves time and makes changing the bed less of a chore.
What you need
You need one clean set of bedding and two pillowcases. Everything should be washed and completely dry, so no moisture is shut in. If you have several sets, you can do one after the other. Then they stand ready on the shelf as small packages, and you can quickly see how many sets you have.
How to do it
Fold the sheet and the duvet cover flat and put them into one pillowcase together with the other pillowcase. Fold the opening in, so the package holds together. It takes only a moment per set, and you need no elastic bands or ties. The package can stand upright or lie flat, whichever suits best. Read more about bamboo homewear.
Fold the opening in
The opening of the pillowcase is folded in, so it closes around what is inside. It works like a pocket that keeps the parts in place. Take care not to press too hard, or the package becomes tight. If it is too loose, fold the opening a little further in, so it holds better.
What you gain
No loose items on the shelf and no doubt about sizes. When everything for one bed lies in the same package, it is easy to see what belongs together, and you avoid a sheet ending up with the wrong duvet cover. The cupboard also becomes easier to survey, because each package is one unit. Read more about bamboo sheets and bamboo pillowcases.
Does it take more room
No. It is the same parts, just gathered. The package takes no more room than the parts would separately, and often less, because there are fewer gaps between the stacks. Fold flat and evenly, so the packages become neat squares that can be stacked on the shelf without toppling.
Can you do it with an envelope sheet
Yes. Roll the envelope sheet up first, so it takes less room, and then put it into the pillowcase together with the other parts. Then a set with an envelope sheet is just as easy to fetch as other sets. If you choose to fold it instead, it should simply be flat and even.
How do you fold an envelope sheet
Turn the corners into each other, and it becomes a square. The envelope sheet has elastic corners, and when they are turned into each other, the sheet lies flat and is easy to fold further. Then fold the square in two or three, until it fits in the pillowcase. It takes a little practice, but goes quickly once you have done it a few times.
Write the size on the package
Put a small note on the shelf or the package with the size, for example which bed the set belongs to. Then everyone in the household can fetch the right set without opening the package. If you have several sizes, it is an easy way to keep order, and it makes the cupboard easier for others to use too.
