Bamboo sweats and why they are not the same as cotton

Short answer: Cotton sweats absorb sweat and become heavy. Bamboo viscose passes the moisture on and dries faster. It shows most if you wear them for several hours at a stretch.

The difference shows after an hour

Cotton holds moisture inside the fibres. Bamboo viscose releases it into the air. That is why a cotton set turns clammy where a bamboo set keeps feeling dry. See sweats.

Weight rather than material

A thin set is usable all year indoors. A thick set is only right in winter, whatever the material.

For training or for the sofa

For training, stretch and a close cut matter, because the fabric should follow the body without hanging. For the sofa, softness and a waistband that does not pull after two hours matter. See bamboo activewear for women.

Wash without fabric softener

Fabric softener leaves a film that cancels exactly the moisture transport you bought the set for. See washing and care.

Frequently asked questions

Are bamboo sweats warm enough?

Indoors yes. For cold outdoors you need another layer over them.

Why do cotton sweats turn clammy?

Because cotton holds the moisture in the fibres instead of releasing it into the air.

Can sweats be washed with towels?

Better not. Lint from terry settles in the sweat fabric.
