Bra Top – Guide to the Soft Everyday Bra

Short answer: A bra top is a soft bra without underwires or hooks that goes on over the head and supports through the fabric itself and a wide band under the bust. It is the most comfortable everyday solution, especially in stretchy bamboo viscose that shapes itself to the body.

What a bra top is

Where the support comes from

In an underwired bra the weight is carried by the wire and the straps. In a bra top it is carried by the wide band under the bust and by the stretch of the fabric itself. That makes the band's width and firmness the main thing to look for, not the number of details.

Who it suits

The bra top is an obvious choice for everyday, for home and under soft blouses and knitwear. If you need a lot of support or a particular shape under a close fitting dress, a moulded model is better. That is a judgement about use rather than about what is finest.

The band under the bust does the work

A narrow elastic under the bust cuts in and goes hard after many washes. A wide, softly knitted band spreads the pressure and stays where it is put. Look for the width in the product photo, because that detail decides whether the model can be worn all day.

The size does not follow an underwired bra

Most bra tops are sold in ordinary sizes rather than in cup and band. Measure under and over the bust and use the brand's own chart. If you are between two sizes, choose the smaller, because the fabric stretches and a model that is too large gives no support.

For training it is a different model

Washing and lifespan

Wash at 30 to 40 degrees in a wash bag and hang it to dry. The elastic in the band under the bust is the part that gives up first, and it does not tolerate the heat in a dryer.
