Colours that change with the season

Short answer: Keep the base colours all year and change only the accents. The wardrobe then reads as seasonal without you replacing it twice a year.

The base stays

Black, navy, grey and white work all year. They carry the wardrobe and should not change with the season. They are what lets you combine freely in both January and July.

The accents change

In spring, light and cool tones work. In autumn, warm and muted ones. Two or three accent garments per season are enough to make the whole wardrobe feel different. See bamboo clothing for women.

What is not about colour

Most of the seasonal change lies in the weight of the fabric rather than the colour. A thin layer in summer and a thicker one in winter does more than any colour. See bamboo t-shirts for women and sweat clothing.

Frequently asked questions

Are there colours you cannot wear in winter

No. Clear white and light tones work well all year.

How many accent garments do you need

Two or three per season is enough to feel the difference.

Should underwear follow the season too

No. Underwear is chosen for what it goes under, not by season.
