Pillowcases for the pillow you have
Short answer: Measure the pillow before ordering. Sixty by sixty and fifty by seventy are the two common Danish sizes, and they are not interchangeable.
The two standard sizes
Sixty by sixty centimetres is the classic square Danish pillow. Fifty by seventy is the oblong European style. A case for one does not fit the other.
Ergonomic pillows
If you have a contoured neck support pillow, the case must either be specially shaped or stretchy enough to follow the form. See bamboo pillowcases.
The closure
An envelope closure keeps the pillow in without buttons and is the most common. A button closure is more secure but takes longer. See bamboo bedding and bamboo sheets.
Frequently asked questions
Can you use a case that is too big
It works, but the pillow shifts around inside it at night.
Do pillowcases shrink
A little in the first wash. Choose by the pillow rather than by the smallest measurement.
How often should they be changed
Every one to two weeks, more often if the skin is troublesome.
