Rehabilitation after an injury
Short answer: Choose clothes that are easy to put on and take off and that do not pull over the area being protected. Mobility is limited, and clothing should not make it harder.
Easy to put on
With limited mobility in an arm or a leg, it matters more that a garment can be put on with one hand than how it looks. Tops that open at the front and trousers with a soft waistband are the easiest.
No pressure over the sore spot
Elastics, seams and ties lying over a sore or operated area should be avoided. A soft, wide waistband that can be moved up or down solves it. See bamboo underwear for men.
Layers rather than thick garments
Rehabilitation alternates between rest and movement, and temperature changes with it. Layers you can remove are easier than one thick garment. See sweat clothing and loungewear for men.
Frequently asked questions
Do you need to buy special clothing
Rarely. Soft qualities with stretch from an ordinary wardrobe go a long way.
What about compression garments
They are used in some rehabilitation. Ask your physiotherapist or doctor whether they suit you.
How do you avoid chafing
Soft seams and a layer that sits close without pinching.
