Uneven colour in the fabric

Short answer: Stripes or shadows in a plain surface come from the dyeing. Small differences are normal, clear stripes are a fault.

Why it happens

Fabric is dyed in large batches. If the fabric lies folded in the bath, the dye can penetrate unevenly. The result is lighter and darker bands following the folds.

What is normal
