Washing bamboo bedding

Short answer: Wash at 40 degrees on an ordinary programme, without fabric softener, and close buttons and zips first. Then it lasts for many years.

Before the wash

Close all buttons and zips. An open cover catches everything else in the drum and comes out as a bundle with socks and t-shirts inside. Also turn the cover inside out.

The wash itself

40 degrees is enough for ordinary use. 60 degrees if there are allergies in the house and the label allows it. Skip the softener, it leaves a film that makes the fabric less absorbent. See bamboo bedding.

After the wash

Shake the cover out firmly before hanging. That removes most creases, so you avoid ironing. See bamboo sheets and bamboo pillowcases.

Frequently asked questions

Can it be tumble dried

On low heat yes, but a line or rack is gentler.

Why does everything end up inside the cover

Because the opening acts like a bag in the drum. Close it before washing.

How often should bedding be washed

Every one to two weeks for most people.
