Bamboo Basics wireless bra and what to look for

Short answer: Bamboo Basics offers non-wired bras in bamboo viscose, where support comes from the fabric and the fit. The models are designed for everyday wear, days at home and the night rather than for training.

Non-wired does not mean unsupported

A bra without underwire supports through a wide band under the bust and through the stretch of the fabric. That gives a softer pressure but less lift than an underwired bra. For many, that is an advantage, because nothing presses against the ribs. See the whole group in bamboo bras without underwire.

For everyday and night

Because there is no metal in it, the model can be worn all day and also to sleep in. That is the main reason many people switch. It suits days at home, long journeys and days at the desk. See also the rest of Bamboo Basics.

The band under the bust

The wide band under the bust does most of the work. It should sit level all the way round and must not ride up at the back. If it rides up, the band is too loose. If you can feel it squeezing after an hour, it is too tight.

Straps and shoulders

The straps should hold the cup in place, not carry the weight. If they dig into your shoulders, the band is often too loose, so the straps take over. Adjust the band first, then tighten the straps until they lie flat without pressing.

Size without cup measurements

Non-wired bras are often chosen in standard sizes instead of cup sizes. Measure under the bust and across the bust, then compare with the chart. If you are between two sizes, the smaller one is often better, because the fabric gives a little. See the size guide.

Why bamboo viscose

Bamboo viscose is soft and smooth against the skin and absorbs moisture. That makes a difference under the bust, where the skin easily becomes warm and damp. The fabric follows the body and gives an even pressure instead of fixed points, as a wire does.

Under which clothes

A soft non-wired bra shows less under fitted tops than a model with structured cups. Under thin and light tops, a skin tone is the least visible. Black works best under dark clothing and shows less wear.

Washing

Wash the bra in a laundry bag at 40 degrees, so hooks and straps do not catch on other clothes. Skip fabric softener and never put it in the tumble dryer, which wears out the elastic in the band. See how to wash bras.

How many you need

With two or three bras you can rotate them, so each one rests between wears. That keeps the elastic fresh for longer. If you also wear one at night, it makes sense to have an extra that is used only for that.

When the support fades

A band that rides up and straps that need tightening more and more show that the elastic is worn. Then it is time for a new one. Replace it in good time, so you do not get used to a fit that no longer supports you.

Frequently asked questions

Can you sleep in a non-wired bra?

Yes. It is one of the most common uses, precisely because there is no metal in it. Choose a model that sits softly and does not squeeze at the band when you lie down.

Does it give enough support for a larger bust?

For everyday wear and at home, many find the support sufficient. The lift is lower than in an underwired bra, though, so for training or long days on your feet another model may be better.

How do I wash it?

Wash it in a laundry bag at 40 degrees without fabric softener and hang it to dry. The tumble dryer wears out the elastic in the band, and the support then fades faster than necessary.
