Bamboo slip and bodystocking – The invisible base layer under your dress

Short answer: Under a dress the task is to remove two things: edges that show and fabric that clings. A slip solves the first by putting a smooth layer between the dress and the skin, and a bodystocking solves both by having no edges at all. Bamboo viscose solves the third, which is heat.

What goes wrong under a dress

Thin dresses have two problems. One is that the fabric clings to tights or to the skin when there is static or moisture, and then the dress follows the body instead of falling. The other is edges: briefs, a bra, a seam at the waist, all of which show through a thin fabric. Both are solved by a smooth layer in between, and that is the whole job of what goes underneath. The slip

The slip is the simplest answer. It puts a smooth layer between the dress and the body so the dress falls freely, and it covers most of what would otherwise show. The bodystocking

A bodystocking goes one step further: it is one piece from shoulder to crotch, so there is no edge over the hip and no seam at the waist. When it chafes in summer

In summer the problem is rarely edges but chafing on the inside of the thigh. A slip does not solve that, a pair of under shorts that reach further down than the place that chafes does.
