Bra straps that slip down and what to do about it

Short answer: Straps slip when they are too loose, when they sit too far out on the shoulder, or when the shoulders slope. The three causes each need a different answer.

Straps that are too loose

Adjust them so you can get two fingers underneath without them hanging. If they are already tight and still slip, looseness is not the cause. See bamboo bra without underwire.

Placement on the shoulder

Straps sitting far out towards the arm slip off. A model with straps placed closer to the neck stays put.

Sloping shoulders

If you have sloping shoulders, almost all ordinary straps slip. A model with a crossed back or racerback solves it, because the straps meet at the back.

The band can be the cause

If the band is too loose, the weight hangs in the straps, and they are pulled out of position. Sort out the band first. See size guide for full bust.

Worn elastic

Strap elastic gives way over time and cannot be tightened indefinitely. See washing and care and bamboo underwear for women.
