Why it pinches

The band size is the most common mistake

Many people wear a band that is too small and compensate with loose straps, and then the band pinches without carrying. The band has to sit close enough to stay put when you raise your arms, but you should be able to fit two fingers under it all the way round.

The straps must not carry everything

If the straps pinch, it is often because the band is not carrying its share. Pull the straps off your shoulders for a moment: if the bust drops noticeably, the weight is in the wrong place. The wire is rigid, the body is not

Try it late in the day

The body changes over the course of a day, and a bra that fits in the morning can pinch in the evening. So try a new model late in the day, or wear it for a whole day before you buy more. That is the only proper test.

When nothing helps

If every model pinches in the same place, it is usually the band size that is wrong rather than the model. Measure again, and try a size up in the band and a size down in the cup.
