How to choose the size of a bra top
Short answer: Bra tops are sold in letter sizes rather than cup sizes. Choose by the measurement under the bust, because the underband does the carrying and decides whether the top sits well all day.
The underband carries
In a bra without underwire, the band under the bust does the holding. If it is loose, the whole top rides up and the straps start to dig into the shoulders. A band that sits firmly without pinching spreads the weight evenly, so the straps only need to keep the top in place.
