How to try on a bra in the right order

Short answer: Start with the band, then the cup and last the straps. Do it the other way round and you end up compensating for a loose band by tightening the straps.

The band first

The band has to sit level and firm all the way round. Raise your arms and see whether it stays in place.

The cup next

The cup should cover without wrinkling and without the bust being pushed over the edge.

The straps last

The straps are only adjusted so the cup lies flat. They should not carry the weight.

The classic mistake

Choosing too big a band and tightening the straps. That gives sore shoulders and a band that rides up.

Without underwire

In wire-free models the same order applies, even though the sizes are letters. See bamboo bra without underwire.

Measure at home

If you cannot try one on, measure instead. See how to find your bra size at home.

Washing

Laundry bag at 40 degrees and air drying. See the washing guide.
