JBS Undershirts – Guide
Short answer: JBS of Denmark is a Danish brand with more than a hundred years of history in underwear, and the vests are known for good fit and durable quality. They come with and without sleeves, and in bamboo viscose they are soft and breathable.
The brand

The models
The vests come with sleeves, without sleeves and with a round or a V shaped neck. With sleeves the fabric absorbs sweat under the arms, sleeveless is coolest, and the shape of the neck decides whether the vest shows in an open collar. Those are the three choices to make.
The material
In bamboo viscose the vest is smooth, soft and good at moving moisture away from the skin. That shows most clearly after a long day under a shirt, when cotton has long since turned damp. See the full range under bamboo vests for men.
The fit
A vest has to touch the skin all the way round to work. It should sit close without pulling across the chest and be long enough to stay down when you raise your arms. If it sits loose, the sweat reaches the shirt however good the material is.
The size
Brands measure differently, and a vest that is one size too big stops working. Use the size guide for JBS of Denmark men before you order, and take the smaller of two sizes if you are in doubt.
The colours
White, black and nude cover the whole shirt cupboard. Under a white shirt nude shows least, not white, because white fabric throws the light back. Under dark, heavy shirts the colour does not matter at all, and there you can simply use whatever you already have at home.
How many
One per day between washes plus a spare. If you wear one every day and wash once a week, eight is the right number. Rotated, they also last longer, because the fabric gets to rest between wears.
Washing
Wash at 30 degrees without fabric softener, and skip the tumble dryer, because heat shrinks the fabric and wears the elastane in the edges. Hung up straight after washing, the vest does not need ironing and is ready again the next day. See also washing guide for bamboo clothing.
Frequently asked questions
Are JBS vests bamboo or cotton?
Both exist. Bamboo viscose moves moisture best and feels coolest, while cotton takes rougher treatment in the wash.
With or without sleeves?
With sleeves against sweat marks, sleeveless for the coolest comfort. That is the only difference that matters under a shirt.
Do they shrink in the wash?
Not at 30 degrees. It is the heat of a hot wash or a tumble dryer that shrinks the fabric, and that cannot be undone afterwards.
