Nightwear and allergy and what you can rule out yourself

Short answer: If your skin reacts at night, it is most often detergent, fabric softener or dust mites. The material is less often the cause, and it can be ruled out systematically.

The detergent first

Try a fragrance free detergent and an extra rinse for two weeks. It is the cheapest test and solves many cases. See washing and care.

Fabric softener out entirely

Fabric softener leaves a film of softeners directly against the skin all night. Drop it completely during the test.

Bedding before nightwear

You have more bedding against your skin than nightwear. Wash it at 60 degrees a couple of times if mites are the suspicion. See bamboo bedding.

When it does not help

If it does not clear up, it belongs with a doctor. Clothing choice can relieve, but it makes no diagnosis. Soft nightwear is in bamboo nightwear for women.

Frequently asked questions

Can you be allergic to bamboo viscose?

It is rare. Reactions more often come from detergent residue, fabric softener or dyes.

Does an extra rinse help with itching skin?

Often yes. Detergent residue in the fabric is a common cause of irritation at night.

When should you see a doctor about skin reactions?

When they persist, spread, or do not improve when you change your washing and bedding.
