When Should You Replace Your Underwear? The Signs of Wear

The five clear signs of wear

The elastic gives up first

Elastane loses its spring over time, and that happens faster with high heat. The test is simple: pull the waistband out and let go. If it snaps straight back, it is fine. If it hangs for a moment or has grown wider than it was, the pair is finished however tidy it looks.

Thin fabric shows against the light

Hold the pair up to a window. If you can see the light clearly through the seat or the front, the fabric is worn down, and then it holds neither the shape nor the moisture the way it should. It is the same spot every time, because that is where the fabric stretches most in wear.

The shape that does not come back

The worn pairs have to leave the drawer
