Size guide for JBS

Short answer: JBS uses standard Danish men's sizes. Underpants and undershirts are chosen by measurement and not by what you usually take in trousers or shirts, and the chart gives you the figures to compare against.

Find the chart

The measurements are in the JBS size guide. Use it if you are unsure, or if it is a while since you last bought the brand. The chart shows waist and chest in centimetres, which you can hold directly against your own figures. It takes a few minutes with a tape and saves you guessing.

Underpants

Waist is the deciding measurement. Measure straight around where the waistband will sit, usually just above the hip bone. A size too small pinches at the waist and rides up the legs, while one too large folds under your trousers. See the styles in bamboo underpants for men, where each style has its own fit.

Undershirts

Chest decides the size, and the shirt should lie flat without pulling. Measure straight around the widest point of the chest with your arms by your sides. If the undershirt is worn under a shirt, it is also worth checking the length so it stays tucked in. See the range in bamboo undershirts for men.

Socks

Socks are sold in ranges by shoe size. Choose the range your shoe size falls in, and take the larger one if you are on the border, as socks that are too small pull tight and wear through faster at the heel and toe. Read more in sock sizes.

Between two sizes

If the piece is worn close under a shirt, choose the smaller size so it does not fold. If it is worn loose, for example at home or at night, choose the larger. Think about when you wear it most and decide from that. See also between two sizes.

After washing

40 degrees and air drying keep the size. The tumble dryer is the main reason underwear shrinks or the waistband loses its stretch. Turn items inside out and use a mild detergent without fabric softener. There is more advice in our washing guide.

Why measurements beat habit

Cuts and ranges change over time, while a measurement in centimetres stays the same. That makes the chart more reliable than the size you usually take. Measure yourself once and write the figures down, and you will have them ready every time you order new underwear.

Underwear wears at the waist

Whatever the size, the waist is the first part to go slack. A size that is tight puts more strain on the elastic, while a size that fits keeps its shape for longer. That is why it pays to choose correctly from the start rather than taking a smaller size for a firm fit.

The full range

All of the brand's pieces are gathered under bamboo underwear for men. There you can compare styles, materials and sizes side by side. Use the same chart for every piece, and measure the part of the body that piece needs to fit.

Your first order

If you are unsure, start with a single set or a small pack in the size the chart points to. Wear it for a few days and after a wash, and check that the waistband sits right. If it fits, you can order more with confidence next time.

Frequently asked questions

What sizes does JBS use

Standard Danish men's sizes. Go by the chart measurements rather than your usual size, as cuts and ranges can change over time.

Which measurement do I use for underpants

Your waist, measured straight around where the waistband will sit, usually just above the hip bone. That is the figure the chart uses, and it is more precise than your trouser size.

Should I size down for a firm fit

No, that puts more strain on the elastic at the waist. Choose the size your measurements point to, and the waistband will keep its shape longer and sit better through the day.
