The elastic that has gone
Short answer: A broken elastic in a waistband can be replaced, but on underwear and socks it rarely pays. If the elastic has gone in one place, the rest is usually worn out too.
Why it happens
Elastane loses its grip through heat and through many washes. See why there is elastane in bamboo clothing.
Can it be repaired
In trousers with a channel, the elastic can be pulled out and replaced. In sewn underwear it cannot.
The whole stack
If the pieces were bought at the same time, the elastic is worn at the same time. Replace them together.
Prevent it
Avoid the tumble dryer. That is the most common cause. See the washing guide.

What you can use the pieces for
If the elastic has gone in a pair of trousers, they can still be worn at home with a drawstring. Underwear with broken elastic should be replaced. See loungewear in bamboo for men.
