How to best care for your bamboo clothing

To extend the lifespan of your bamboo clothing, we recommend:

Wash at 30–40 degrees.
Wash inside out – especially if there is a print.
Air dry in the shade instead of using a tumble dryer.
Use detergent without harsh enzymes – e.g. wool/silk soap and preferably fragrance-free.
Underwear can be washed at 60 degrees, but this may shorten its lifespan.

These socks from Urban Quest only come in 40 to 46. Check that before you order, because there are no other sizes to choose from. If your foot fits within that range, you get five identical white pairs, in other words a week without washing. The style suits both women and men.

80 per cent bamboo viscose

The fabric is 80% bamboo viscose, 18% polyester and 2% elastane. That is a high bamboo content for a sock, and the difference shows: they feel smooth rather than just soft, and they keep the foot dry through a long day. White socks are washed separately

White socks turn greyish beige from being washed together with coloured laundry. Wash them with the rest of your whites at 40 degrees and leave out the fabric softener. See our washing and care guide.
