Bamboo for an Allergy-Friendly Bedroom – Combats Dust Mites and Odors
For people with allergies, the bedroom is one of the most challenging rooms. Dust mites thrive in textiles, and damp cotton materials are their ideal home. An allergy-friendly bedroom starts with the materials in the bed—and bamboo is one of the best solutions.
Why Bamboo Reduces Dust Mites
Bamboo viscose is breathable and moisture-wicking, and has properties that make the material unattractive to dust mites. Mites thrive in damp environments with dead skin cells and bacteria. Bamboo effectively wicks away moisture, reduces bacterial growth, and is therefore far less attractive as a habitat. Many people with dust mite allergies experience a noticeable improvement after switching to bamboo bedding.
Add to that the fact that the material is hypoallergenic and free of harmful substances (all our products are OEKO-TEX Standard 100 certified), and you have the foundation for allergy-friendly bedding.
Start with the bedding
You’ll get the biggest impact from your bedding. Our bamboo bedding collection includes everything from duvet covers to pillowcases and sheets. For standard-sized duvets, we offer bamboo single bedding in 140x200 cm, and for extra-long duvets, bamboo single bedding in 140x220 cm.
Sleepwear is also important
Sleepwear is in contact with your skin for 6–8 hours straight. Our bamboo sleepwear for women and bamboo sleepwear for men are made from the same bamboo viscose as our bedding. Together, they create a gentle environment for your skin throughout the night.
Caring for Your Hypoallergenic Bedding
To maintain an allergy-friendly bedroom, wash your bedding and sleepwear at 30–40 degrees every 1–2 weeks. Bamboo doesn’t require a 60-degree wash—low temperatures are enough to keep the material clean. Don’t forget bamboo towels for the bathroom—damp towels are also a breeding ground for dust mites.
